A Festival of Whispers

Klimaatverandering doemt op in ons dagelijks leven, en wij mensen blijven de verzoeken van onze omgeving negeren. Ga met ons mee om te onderzoeken wat onze omgeving ons vertelt, zodat we elkaar kunnen inspireren. Met behulp van stenen, planten en andere voorwerpen die we onderweg vinden, kunnen we luisteren en de aanwezige ruimte en geluiden waarderen. Wat voor lied kan een cactus maken, en hoe kan een ander je inspireren om een ander te beïnvloeden? En hoe kan muziek een gelegenheid zijn om die voorwerpen en plaatsen te waarderen die we als vanzelfsprekend beschouwen? Elk voorwerp en levend wezen heeft een stem. Ear to the Earth Ensemble geeft ons de kans om te luisteren en jouw stem te horen.

Met een muzikale voorstelling voor de gemeenschap belicht Ear to the Earth de geluiden die onze omgeving voortbrengt, moedigt het een nieuw soort luisteren aan, en laat het de creatieve geesten in de muziek zien die willen laten zien hoe klimaatverandering onze cultuur beïnvloedt. Nog belangrijker is dat de muzikale reis blijk geeft van de wens om communicatie over deze kwesties op gang te brengen door middel van waarderend leren en discussie in de vorm van muzikale experimenten, waarbij ieder individu iets unieks kan beïnvloeden. Dit festival van geluiden culmineert in een voorstelling die het verlies van kunst in de tijd illustreert, de geluiden van onze muzikale en werkelijke stemmen die langzaam verloren gaan als oceaangolven die neerstorten in de ruimte die we zo hebben verkend.

Er is er maar één nodig: om een impact te maken, om anderen aan te moedigen en om een verschil te maken. Maak dat verschil met ons; zonder jouw oren en stem kunnen we onze omgeving verliezen. Geniet van een festival van fluisteringen, en verken de unieke muzikale stem van ons milieu.

Over Ear to the Earth Ensemble
Ear to the Earth Ensemble is een nieuw gevormde groep kunstenaars die voorstellingen ontwikkelt die gesprekken aangaan met, voor en over onze omgeving. Opgericht uit leden van de Ensemble Academie van het Koninklijk Conservatorium Den Haag, heeft de groep een collectieve kennis en passie voor nieuwe muziek en een toewijding aan muzikaal experiment. Door ruimtelijk georiënteerde optredens en de opkomende wereld van eco-akoestische muziek, geven we een stem en luisteren we naar onze omgeving - levend en niet-levend - om een essentiële deugd van het mens-zijn te demonstreren: empathie.

Climate change looms over our everyday lives, and we humans continue to ignore the pleas of our environment. Come with us as we examine what our environment tells us so we may inspire each other. Using stones, plants, and any objects we may find along the way, let us listen and appreciate the present space and sounds. What kind of song can a cactus make, and how might another person inspire you to influence someone else? And, how might music be an opportunity to appreciate those items and places we take for granted? Every object and living being has a voice. Ear to the Earth Ensemble provides an opportunity to listen and for us to hear your voice.

With a community-based musical performance, Ear to the Earth highlights the sounds our environments create, encourages a new kind of listening, and showcases the creative minds in music that want to show how climate change impacts our culture. More importantly, the musical journey demonstrates a wish to invoke communication about these issues through appreciative learning and discussion in the form of musical experimentation, where each individual can influence something unique. This festival of sounds culminates in a performance that illustrates the loss of art over time, the sounds of our musical and actual voices slowly being lost to ocean waves crashing into the space we explored so much.

All it takes is one: to make an impact, to encourage others, and to make a difference. Make that difference with us; without your ears and voice, we may lose our environment. Enjoy a festival of whispers, and explore our environment’s unique musical voice.

About Ear to the Earth Ensemble
Ear to the Earth Ensemble is a newly formed group of artists who develop performances that create conversations with, for, and about our environments. Formed from members of the Ensemble Academy at the Royal Conservatoire The Hague, the group has a collective knowledge and passion for new music and a devotion to musical experimentation. Through spatially-minded performances and the emerging world of ecoacoustic music, we give a voice and listen to our environments and surroundings -- living and non-living alike -- in order to demonstrate an essential virtue of being human: empathy.
