It's nice to have an extra day off on Whit Sunday. This year it falls on Sunday 5 and Monday 6 June. That means: a very long weekend to do fun things! That's good, because Whit Sunday falls in the first festival weekend of the Delft Fringe Festival (2 - 12 June) and there are performances by young artists to see all weekend!
Celine Werkhoven - The Whispering Boat Back and forth. Back and forth.
Step into the wooden rowing boat and let yourself be ferried along by Celine Werkhoven. What you whisper to her on the way is entrusted to the Delft canal in a ritual for two. Dare to cross over and become transported by this intimate performance on the water. This is definitely one of those performances in places you wouldn't normally go.
Celine sails on the canal on June 5 & 6 from 15:00. Boarding: Rietveld
Performances in the Genestetkerk
On Monday evening 6 June you can see two wonderful performances in the Remonstrantse Genestetkerk on Oude Delft. Daniil Aleksin, from Belarus, tells in a humorous and moving way about his arrival in the Netherlands. And how the old Soviet patterns still bother him. David Heijmans is a thinker. In his head the most beautiful victories and greatest defeats play together. All are equally true. Tonight, he gives sound and voice to what lives inside him.
Daniil plays at 19:30 and 21:30. David plays at 8:30 and 10:30 pm.
Whit Sunday with children
There is also much for children to enjoy this weekend. Sunday is packed with family performances for children aged 3 to 12. Watch the performance Lang Leve de Prinses (3+) in the Prinsenkwartier. Enjoy comic puppet theater with a moving edge by Janna Handgraaf (4+). The girls of DConnected (4+) discover what you need to know to be the best, in the old building of De VAK on the Westvest. Finally, Judith and Rick from Alles Valt (8+) play a performance in which you can decide what you're going to see for yourself. Wajow!
The family performances start on Sundays at 13:30, 14:30, 15:30 and 16:30.
Discover Delft in a different way
Can't choose? Then choose a complete festival tour through historic Delft with an official guide from Exploring Delft. Enjoy surprising performances by young artists at special locations in the city. Even more fun, you can do this on foot or by boat on the canals!
