TWIST

Een avond in de club. De frequentie van de muziek neemt het publiek mee naar een prominente plek: de dansvloer. In de voorstelling TWIST duiken Dieke & Karlijn in de ongeschreven regels van de clubcultuur.

Geïnspireerd door kinderspellen nemen deze twee Amsterdamse dansers een kijkje op de dansvloer van het nachtleven. Met verschillende straat- en clubdansstijlen onderzoeken ze thema’s als schaamte, connectie en speelsheid. Een avontuur dat zowel bevrijdend als ongemakkelijk kan zijn.

Het makersduo Dieke & Karlijn, clubfanaten die elkaar op jonge leeftijd op de lokale dansschool ontmoetten, hebben vanuit speelsheid – een kernwaarde in hun vriendschap – een bewegingstaal ontwikkeld die improvisatie en verbinding centraal stelt.

In hun werk brengen ze elementen van de hiphop- en clubcultuur naar het podium. Binnen de verschillende dansstijlen, waar beweging en muziek samenkomen, verkennen ze in TWIST een kostbare en speelse verbinding. Wie ben jij als het licht uitgaat, maar de spot aan?

Biografie
Dieke de Jong is een danser en dansmaker. Haar basis ligt in verschillende straat- en clubstijlen, met een focus op hiphop, house en electro dance. Ze heeft een passie voor het vertellen van verhalen. Als danseres trad ze op in producties voor onder andere Malmö Dance Week en ITA, en nam ze deel aan verschillende battles door Europa. In 2023 voltooide ze de five styles course aan de Åsa folkhögskola in Zweden. Daarnaast is Dieke bezig met haar carrière als jonge choreograaf. Haar solo Stimuli werd uitgevoerd tijdens De Nederlandse Dansdagen X Open Your Mind, en in 2020 won ze Kunstbende met haar solo Movement in Balance.

Karlijn Zeeman is een jonge maker en dans- en performance artist die begon met ballet en jazz, maar al snel haar weg vond in verschillende dans- en clubstijlen, waaronder House en Waacking. Haar grootste drijfveer is het vieren van ieder van ons. Karlijn heeft een sterk gevoel voor rechtvaardigheid en combineert haar achtergrond als queer-vrouw en cultureel maatschappelijk werker met theater. In het verleden trad Karlijn op in producties voor ITA, Bonte Hond met DE ZIJLIJN, en maakte ze deel uit van DOX Club 2023/2024 in samenwerking met het collectief RELNACHT.

*A Night in the Club.The frequency of the music guides the crowd to a central place—the dance floor. In the performance TWIST, Dieke & Karlijn dive into the unwritten rules of club culture. Inspired by childhood games, these two Amsterdam-based dancers take a closer look at the dancefloor of the nightlife. Through various street and club dance styles, they explore themes such as shame, connection, and playfulness—an adventure that can be both liberating and uncomfortable.

Creators Dieke & Karlijn are club fanatics who met at a young age at their local dance school. Rooted in playfulness—a core value of their friendship—they have developed a movement language that centers around improvisation and connection. In their work, they bring elements of hip-hop and club culture to the stage. In TWIST, the duo explores a precious and playful connection through different dance styles, all characterized by the fusion of movement and music. Who are you when the lights are out, but the spotlight is on?

**Biography **
Dieke is a dancer and dance maker. Her foundation lies in various street and club styles, with a focus on hip-hop, house, and electro dance. She has a passion for storytelling. As a dancer, she has performed in productions for events such as Malmö Dance Week and ITA and has competed in various battles across Europe. In addition, she completed the "Five Styles Course" at Åsa Folkhögskola in Sweden in 2023. Moreover, she is making a name for herself as a young choreographer. She performed her solo Stimuli at De Nederlandse Dansdagen X Open Your Mind, and in 2020, she won Kunstbende with her solo Movement in Balance.

Young maker and dance and performance artist; Karlijn Zeeman started with Ballet and Jazz, but quickly found her way in different dance and club styles such as House and Waacking. Karlijn's biggest motivation is to celebrate each and every one of us. She has a strong sense of justice and combines her background as a queer woman and cultural social worker with theater. In the past, Karlijn performed in productions for ITA, Bonte Hond and was part of DOX Club 2023/2024 in collaboration with the collective RELNACHT.
