Moedermythe

Moedermythe is voor iedereen met een moeder, of die moeder is, was, wordt, wil worden of nooit zal zijn. Vijf moeders onderzoeken via hun persoonlijke verhalen wat moederschap betekent in een wereld vol verwachtingen. Samen dansen, zingen, springen en schudden ze de norm van zich af. Wees welkom bij deze muzikale theatervoorstelling en vier met ons de meerstemmigheid van moederschap.

"Houd het niet, jij wordt nooit een goede moeder," zei de stem in haar hoofd toen ze ongepland zwanger was. Vijf jaar later onderzoekt theatermaker Mystha Mandersloot de herkomst van die stem. Want wat betekent "een goede moeder"? Wanneer mag je je überhaupt een moeder noemen? Dit onderzoekt ze samen met vijf moeders die niet binnen de norm van moederschap vallen. Ze vieren de rafelranden en laten zien dat moederschap geen vastomlijnde rol is, maar een vorm van zelfexpressie.

Biografie
Mystha Mandersloot (zij/haar, 2000) is theatermaker en kunsteducator, afgestudeerd aan de Hogeschool voor de Kunsten Utrecht. In haar werk bevraagt zij maatschappelijke systemen door persoonlijke verhalen te theatraliseren en ongehoorde stemmen ruimte te geven. Haar stijl is confronterend, maar tegelijk ontwapenend en toegankelijk. Je verlaat haar voorstellingen met het gevoel dat je net een goed gesprek hebt gevoerd met een vreemde op het toilet van een club.

Eerder maakte Mystha Verhalen van Verwekkers (2025) en ABORTUSVERHALEN (2023), waarvoor zij de publieksprijs van het Delft Fringe Festival won. Haar werk was te zien op o.a. het Café Theaterfestival, Vuurol, Frascati, MBO Zorg en Welzijn en de Condomerie Amsterdam.

“Don’t keep it, you’ll never be a good mother,” said the voice in her head when she found herself unexpectedly pregnant. Five years later, theatre maker Mystha Mandersloot investigates the origins of that voice. Because what does “a good mother” really mean? And when can you even call yourself a mother? Together with five mothers who do not fit within the norm of motherhood, she explores these questions. They celebrate the rough edges and show that motherhood is not a fixed role, but a form of self-expression.

Biography*
*Mystha Mandersloot (she/her, 2000) is a theatre maker and arts educator, and a graduate of the Utrecht University of the Arts. In her work, she questions societal systems by theatricalizing personal stories and creating space for unheard voices. The experiences of her performers form the starting point of her artistic practice. Her style is confrontational, yet disarming and accessible at the same time. You leave her performances feeling as though you’ve just had a meaningful conversation with a stranger in a club bathroom.
Previously, Mystha created Verhalen van Verwekkers (2025) and ABORTUSVERHALEN (2023), the latter earning her the Audience Award at the Delft Fringe Festival. Her work has been presented at the Café Theaterfestival, Vuurol, Frascati, MBO Zorg en Welzijn and the Condomerie Amsterdam.
