PUSSYBOYS

De macho man. Masculiene in al zijn daden en bewegingen. Is dat de ultieme vorm van man zijn? In PUSSYBOYS vliegen 6 jonge mannen vanuit humor, compassie, muzikaliteit en serious business de zoektocht naar hun eigen mannelijkheid aan.

Wat wordt jongens aangeleerd en welke koers varen zij op de weg naar volwassenheid? Met een stalen transformeerbaar decor bevinden wij ons in hun alomvattende mannelijke wereld. Heeft de man de vrije keus om te bepalen hoe hij zich vertoont? En wat voor rol heeft de maatschappij op hun ‘manly performance’?

PUSSYBOYS is een muziektheater voorstelling over de dualiteiten, verwachtingen en keuzes van het man zijn.

Over Tara Reijerkerk
Tara Reijerkerk (24 jaar, nieuwe muziektheater maakster) kan vijf merken mayo blind uit elkaar houden. Dit oog voor detail, neemt zij ook mee in haar voorstellingen. Haar voorstellingen zijn bommetjes van muzikaliteit, humor en kwetsbaarheid.

Na in 2018 te zijn afgestudeerd als Musical Performer en Danser aan de Song and Dance Academie wilde zij zelf een podium geven aan talenten. Momenteel studeert zij af als Theatermaker en docent aan de Academie voor Theater en Dans in Amsterdam. In het derde jaar van haar opleiding werd haar eerste werk ‘PUSSYBOYS’ geboren.

Tara’s voorstellingen vertrekken vanuit een breed maatschappelijk thema en worden ingevuld met persoonlijke perspectieven van de spelers. Als Tara niet in de repetitiezalen te vinden is, dan staat ze wellicht op een surfplank te golfsurfen. Hierin vindt zij liefde voor de combinatie van lef, actie, rust en in het moment zijn. Net als in haar theaterregie.

The macho man. Masculine in all his actions and movements. Is that the ultimate form of manhood? In PUSSYBOYS, 6 young men search for their own masculinity with humor, compassion, musicality and serious business.

What are boys taught and what course do they take on the road to adulthood? With a steel transformable backdrop, we find ourselves in their all-encompassing masculine world. Does man have the free choice to determine how he displays himself? And what role does society have on their "manly performance"?

PUSSYBOYS is a musical theater performance about the dualities, expectations and choices of being a man.

About Tara Reijerkerk
Tara Reijerkerk (age 24, new music theater maker) can tell five brands of mayo blindly apart. This eye for detail, she also brings to her performances. Her performances are bombshells of musicality, humor and vulnerability.

After graduating as a Musical Performer and Dancer from the Song and Dance Academy in 2018, she wanted to give a stage to talents herself. She is currently graduating as a Theatre Maker and teacher at the Academy for Theatre and Dance in Amsterdam. In the third year of her studies, her first work "PUSSYBOYS" was born.

Tara's performances start from a broad social theme and are filled with personal perspectives of the actors. If Tara can't be found in the rehearsal halls, she might be on a surfboard surfing. In this she finds love for the combination of guts, action, peace and being in the moment. Just like in her theater direction.
