The pressure to be beautiful seems greater than ever: TikTok trends like "how can I be prettier?" reach millions of views, celebrities constantly promote products and life hacks to become even more attractive, and the number of cosmetic procedures rises explosively each year. In Pretty Privilege, Collectief Teder confronts the audience with the harsh reality of beauty standards. Isa Zwart and Clé Delphi investigate how the (in)visible advantage of physical attractiveness — also known as "pretty privilege" — shapes our self-image, behaviour, and social status. Through polyphonic singing, electronic beats, saxophone, and personal stories, they create a critical, playful, yet tender piece of music theatre. What begins with a filter or a small correction grows into an endless optimisation of the self. Beauty is presented as attainable, measurable, and above all necessary. Mirror, mirror on the wall… why is the right side of my face not right at all? The pressure to be beautiful seems greater than ever: TikTok trends like "how can I be prettier?" reach millions of views, celebrities constantly promote products and life hacks to become even more attractive, and the number of cosmetic procedures rises explosively each year. In Pretty Privilege, Collectief Teder confronts the audience with the harsh reality of beauty standards. Isa Zwart and Clé Delphi investigate how the (in)visible advantage of physical attractiveness — also known as "pretty privilege" — shapes our self-image, behaviour, and social status. Through polyphonic singing, electronic beats, saxophone, and personal stories, they create a critical, playful, yet tender piece of music theatre. What begins with a filter or a small correction grows into an endless optimisation of the self. Beauty is presented as attainable, measurable, and above all necessary. A project that is never finished. In a world where insecurity generates profit, the question arises: who benefits from our self-doubt, and what happens if we refuse to participate?

Collectief Teder, founded by Isa Zwart and Clé Delphi, creates music theatre that explores and questions contemporary forms of women's oppression and patriarchal structures. With humour, tenderness, and music as a guiding thread, they make large and complex themes deeply felt. Their performances address topics that often remain unspoken: from witch hunts to female sexuality, menstruation, and beauty standards.
Clé and Isa met at the ArtEZ Conservatoire. Since graduating in 2023, they have been steadily building their career. They have won the Heij Konijn Award, the Verwonderwaarderingsprijs from Art of Wonder, and the Audience Award at Delft Fringe Festival 2025. That same year, they were selected as creators of Station Noord. Their work has been presented at various national and international festivals, including O. Festival, The Future Is Now at Stadsschouwburg Utrecht, and the Wuzhen Theatre Festival in China.

Spiegeltje, spiegeltje aan de wand… wat is er mis met mijn gezicht vanaf de rechterkant? De schoonheidsplicht lijkt groter dan ooit: TikTok-trends als "how can I be prettier?" bereiken miljoenen views, beroemdheden promoten constant producten en lifehacks om nóg mooier te worden, en het aantal cosmetische ingrepen stijgt elk jaar explosief.
In Pretty Privilege confronteert Collectief Teder het publiek met de harde werkelijkheid van schoonheidsidealen. Isa Zwart en Clé Delphi onderzoeken hoe het (on)zichtbare voordeel van fysieke aantrekkelijkheid — ook wel 'pretty privilege' genoemd — ons zelfbeeld, gedrag en sociale status beïnvloedt.
Met meerstemmige zang, saxofoon, elektronische beats en persoonlijke verhalen creëren zij een kritische, speelse en tegelijk tedere muziektheatervoorstelling.
Wat begint met een filter of een kleine correctie, groeit uit tot een eindeloze optimalisatie van jezelf. Schoonheid wordt gepresenteerd als maakbaar, meetbaar en vooral noodzakelijk. Een project dat nooit af is. In een wereld waarin onzekerheid winst oplevert, rijst de vraag: wie verdient er aan onze twijfel, en wat gebeurt er als we weigeren mee te doen?

Biografie
Collectief Teder, opgericht door Isa Zwart en Clé Delphi, maakt muziektheater dat hedendaagse vormen van vrouwenonderdrukking en patriarchale structuren onderzoekt en bevraagt. Met humor, tederheid en muziek als rode draad maken ze grote, complexe thema's invoelbaar. Hun voorstellingen raken onderwerpen die vaak onbesproken blijven: van heksenvervolgingen tot vrouwelijke seksualiteit, menstruatie en schoonheidsnormen.
Clé en Isa leerden elkaar kennen aan het ArtEZ Conservatorium in Arnhem. Sinds hun afstuderen in 2023 timmeren ze stevig aan de weg. Ze wonnen onder meer de Heij Konijn Award, de Verwonderwaarderingsprijs van Art of Wonder en de publieksprijs van Delft Fringe Festival 2025. In datzelfde jaar werden ze geselecteerd als makers van Station Noord. Hun werk was te zien op diverse (inter)nationale festivals, waaronder O. Festival in Rotterdam, The Future Is Now in Stadsschouwburg Utrecht en Wuzhen Festival in China.
