Als zeesterren aan land komen

Soms is het leven als de stroming van de zee.
Word je erdoor meegesleurd en heen en weer geslingerd van hoge verwachting naar diepe teleurstelling.
Je hapt naar lucht, maar je longen vullen zich met water.
En je weet niet of je ooit nog veilig boven zult komen.
Je probeert je ergens aan vast te houden, maar de bodem bestaat uit los zand.
Er is geen houvast. Zelfs weten dat er geen houvast is, is geen houvast.
Want je weet niet, nooit niet wat er gaat gebeuren.
Alles stroomt en niets blijft.
Maar wat als je de illusie van controle loslaat?
Jezelf bevrijdt van alle beelden en verwachtingen?
Wat gebeurt er dan?
Sla je kapot tegen de rotsen? Spoel je aan bij een teleurstellend einde?
Of neemt het water je mee naar een plek die je nooit had kunnen verwachten
en zul je misschien heel misschien daar vinden wat je al die tijd al zocht?

In de tragikomische onemanshow 'Als zeesterren aan land komen' gaat cabaretier en acteur Sebastiaan de Bie op zoek naar een antwoord op de vraag ‘hoe in godsnaam met het leven om te gaan?’. In de hoop dat dat dan iets oplost. Waarschijnlijk niet, maar je moet wat als mens.

Zijn zoektocht is grof en gevoelig. Cynisch en romantisch. Poëtisch en platvloers. Arrogant en onzeker. Een tere ziel die met humor van zich af slaat. Want het wordt in elk geval heel grappig. (Vindt hij zelf tenminste. Is er sowieso altijd één iemand die een leuke tijd heeft.)

Over Sebastiaan de Bie
Sebastiaan de Bie werd in 1999 geboren. Het was blijkbaar zijn beurt. Ooit had hij een hond, maar die is nu dood. Dat was verdrietig, maar niet traumatisch. Hij heeft blauwe ogen die hij hemzelf goed vindt staan en hij eet elke ochtend een bakje cruesli met yoghurt en banaan. Hij vertrouwt zichzelf niet meer in boekwinkels, want hij koopt meer boeken dan hij leest. Ooit was hij bang voor seks, maar dat is nu minder. Hij weet eigenlijk niet écht wie hij is. Maar wie weet dat wel van zichzelf? Diegene moet een steen gooien ofzo…

Sebastiaan de Bie is acteur, cabaretier en schrijver. In 2021 studeerde hij af aan de Amsterdamse Toneelschool & Kleinkunstacademie. Hij maakt komische theatermonologen die zich begeven op het snijvlak van cabaret, toneel en stand-up comedy.

Sometimes life is like the current of the sea.
You are swept by it and tossed back and forth from high expectation to deep disappointment.
You gasp for air, but your lungs fill with water.
And you don't know if you will ever reach the surface safely.
You try to hold on to something, but the ground is made of loose sand.
There is no handhold. Even knowing that there is no holding is no holding.
Because you don't know, never know what is going to happen.
Everything flows and nothing stays.
But what if you let go of the illusion of control?
Free yourself from all images and expectations?
What happens then?
Do you smash against the rocks? Do you wash up at a disappointing end?
Or does the water take you to a place you could never have expected
and maybe just maybe you'll find there what you've been looking for all along?

In the tragicomic one-man show ‘Als zeesterren aan land komen’ (When starfish come ashore) comedian and actor Sebastiaan de Bie goes in search of an answer to the question "how on earth to deal with life”. Hoping that will then solve something. Probably not, but you have to do something as a human being.

His quest is crude and sensitive. Cynical and romantic. Poetic and vulgar. Arrogant and insecure. A delicate soul who lashes out with humor. Because at least it will be very funny (at least he thinks so himself. At least there is always one person having a good time anyway).

About Sebastiaan de Bie
Sebastiaan de Bie was born in 1999. Apparently it was his turn. He once had a dog, but it is now dead. That was sad, but not traumatic. He has blue eyes that he likes himself and he eats a bowl of cruesli with yogurt and banana every morning. He no longer trusts himself in bookstores because he buys more books than he reads. Once he was afraid of sex, but that is less now. He doesn't really know who he is. But who does know that about himself? That person should throw a stone or something...

Sebastiaan de Bie is an actor, comedian and writer. He graduated from Amsterdam's Toneelschool & Kleinkunstacademie in 2021. He creates comedic theater monologues that straddle the intersection of cabaret, drama and stand-up comedy.
