Over Alienated

In the dance performance 'Carry my segment', which also incorporates circus elements, the body takes center stage. The various relationships between the bodies are highlighted in this performance, resulting in a dynamic and exciting game of support and collaboration. There is always a connection between the two bodies, which arises from the principle that one cannot exist without the other.

Our brains can deceive us in how we perceive bodies; as humans, objects, things or parts of others. This depends on our personal experiences and circumstances. Everyone looks at the world through a personal lens, which is why everyone perceives things in a different way.

Normally, Alienated works with a dance partner which is static and immobile, but in 'Carry my segment', the dance partner is a human, which brings new and different possibilities.

'Carry my segment' is part of Alienated's current research, in which they approach the concept of object manipulation in a different way. This time, by replacing the object with a living, human body and exploring the possibilities that come with it. This research is made possible in part by: Delft fringe festival and Fonds Podiumkunsten. With their support Alienated started a development trajectory for their business and artistic development.

About Alienated
The name ‘Alienated’ is derived from the word ‘alien’, which means estrangement. Estrangement is a characteristic of Alienated's work, where they place the body in a different context by working with objects. They do this by combining dance with the technique of object manipulation. Object manipulation is a technique in which the performer uses and transforms an object to create images and shapes. The merging of these two art forms, along with music and visual elements, makes their performances particularly intriguing and interesting. Alienated does not see the object as a static set piece, but as an entity and dance partner. The connection and relationship between the object and the performer is one of the important elements in their work.
